Holy Shirdi

Shirdi is a town in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra in India. Shirdi was where the great saint Sai Baba, Indian spiritual master, who is regarded by his devotee as a fakir, saint, and guru lived till his samadhi in 1918. Shirdi is the place everyone should visit once in a lifetime to experience it's magical and spiritual power.


Some of the must-see places in Shirdi are Samadhi Mandir, Khandoba Temple, Gurusthan, Dwarkamai Mosque, The Dhuni, Lendi Garden, Dixit Wada Museum. Most important festivals in Shirdi are Dussera, Guru Poornima and Baba's death anniversary. During this time lakhs of devotees come to Shirdi. Pilgrim arrival peaks between September and November when many Hindu festivals occur. Shirdi is approximately 220 km away from Pune.

1) Lonavla:


Lonavla is a town and a hill station Municipal Council in Pune district in Maharashtra.It is about 64 kilometres from the city of Pune and 96 kilometres from the city of Mumbai. It is known for its production of the hard candy chikki and is also a major stop on the railway line connecting Mumbai and Pune. From the Pune suburbs, local trains are available from Pune Junction. Both the Mumbai-Pune Expressway as well as the Mumbai-Chennai highway pass through Lonavla.

2) Panchgani:


Panchgani also called Paachgani is a famous hill station and municipal council in Satara district in Maharashtra. It is renowned for the many premier residential educational institutions.
Scenic Panchgani was rediscovered by the British during the British Raj as a summer resort, and a superintendent named John Chesson was placed in charge of the hill station in the 1860s. He is credited with planting many plant species from the western world in Panchgani, including silver oak and poinsettia, which have flourished since then in Panchgani.


3) Lavasa:


Lavasa is a private,planned city being built near Pune. It is stylistically based on the Italian town Portofino, with a street and several buildings bearing the name of that town.
A 25,000 acres or 8,000 acres  project being developed by HCC.
Billed as India's first hill station since Independence, this private city is being constructed by a unit of Ajit Gulabchand's Hindustan Construction Company. The architectural team responsible for the design of the town wants it be an imitation of an Italian hill-side town.

4) Wai:


Wai is a town in satara District, in Maharashtra state.Located on the Krishna River, Wai was a town of some prominence in the days of the Peshwas. Two important Maratha Brahmin from ruling families had their origins here: Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and Gopikabai, wife of Nanasaheb Peshwa (Raste family). Peshwas, a word derived from the Persian word for "foremost leader," were similar to a modern prime minister, and served Maharashatra state from 1713 to 1857.
Wai has long been a cultural center. Locally prominent families built several architecturally significant temples in Wai. A few kilometers from Wai on a hill 4,650 feet above sea level is the temple of Mandhradevi Kalubai, which is more than 400 years old.In more recent times, some 300 Bollywood and Marathi movies have been filmed in Wai.

5) Khandala:


Khandala is a hill station in the Western Ghats, about 3 kilometres  from Lonavala and 7 kilometres from Karjat.
Khandala is located at one  end the Bhor Ghat, a major ghat on the road link between the Deccan Plateau and the Konkan plain. The ghat carries an extensive amount of road and rail traffic. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the main link between the major cities of Mumbai and Pune, passes through Khandala.
Due to the ease of accessibility from nearby cities, Khandala is a common area for hiking. One destination is the nearby peak of Duke's Nose, which offers a panoramic view of Khandala and the Bhor Ghat.
The route near Khandala sunset point and khopoli has been there since centuries used to connect the coastal cities like Sopara to Pune. The transport from base of khopoli was by carts both hand pulled and horse drawn, which was tarred during British time somewhere in 1840.

6) Mahabaleshwar:


Mahabaleshwar is a small town and a municipal council in Satara district. It is a hill station located in the Sahyadri mountain range. With one of the few evergreen forests of India, it served as the summer capital of Bombay province during the British Raj.
Mahabaleshwar is located about 120 km southwest of Pune and 285 km from Mumbai, Mahabaleshwar is a vast plateau measuring 150 km2 (58 sq mi), bound by valleys on all sides. It reaches a height of 1,439 m (4,721 ft) at its highest peak above sea level, known as Wilson/Sunrise Point.
Mahabaleshwar is the source of the Krishna River that flows across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The legendary source of the river is a spout from the mouth of a statue of a cow in the ancient temple of Mahadev in Old Mahabaleshwar. Legend has it that Krishna is Lord Vishnu himself as a result of a curse on the trimurtis by Savitri. Also, its tributaries Venna and Koyna are said to be Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma themselves. An interesting thing to notice is that 4 other rivers come out from the cow's mouth apart from Krishna and they all travel some distance before merging into Krishna. These rivers are the Koyna, Venna (Veni), Savitri, and Gayatri.

7) Revdanda Beach:


Revdanda is a village near Alibaug, India. It is 17 km away from Alibag and 125 km away from Mumbai.
Revdanda Beach is a very isolated beach in this region. The sand is black in colour, which gives it a unique look. The beach is integral part of people in Revdanda, its one of the places where people come to relax after days heavy work. As Revdanda lies in coastal region fish curry and rice forms an important part of diet of the people of this region.

8) Malshej Ghat:


Malshej Ghat  is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats range in the Thane-Pune district of Maharashtra. The site is nestled in the lofty rugged hills of the Western Ghats.
The site is home to hundreds of different kinds of flora and fauna especially the avian population such as quails, rails, crakes, flamingos and cuckoos.
Malshej ghat, with average height of 700 mts is situated in Pune district near the borders of Thane and Ahmednagar districts. It is at a distance of 130 km north of Pune and 154 km from Mumbai towards northeast. The nearest railhead is Kalyan in Thane District or Karjat near Mumbai. From Kalyan Rail Station, one can take state buses that commute frequently between Kalyan and Ahmednagar. State Bus Station is right next to the railway station. Any Ahmednagar Bound Bus will stop at Malshej Ghat. It will approximately take 1.5 hrs by Bus from Kalyan. To go to Malshej ghat by road From Pune, take Pune-Nashik highway (NH-50) to Alephata and turn left on Kalyan-Ahmednagar Highway (SH-222) towards Kalyan. From Mumbai, take NH3 to Bhiwandi and turn towards Murbad or take state highway via Kalyan, Murbad, Saralgaon and Vaishakhare. It is known for landslides during monsoons. 

9)Kamshet:


Kamshet is located in Pune district ,110 km from Mumbai City, and 45 km from Pune. It is 16 km from the twin hill stations of Khandala and Lonavala and is accessible by road and rail from Mumbai  and Pune. Kamshet is home to small villages that are built in the traditional style - with mud, thatch and reeds.

Every one know  shirdi is a Hindu pilgrim destination, it is a  home of  saint Sri Sai Baba. This blog is regarding shirdi darshan from pune. Firstly will tell a brief about shirdi and related place and so on. So we can begin


Shirdi is known as Shirdi Nagar Panchayat, located in Rahata Taluka in Ahmednagar. As i told before shirdi is famously known as the home of the late 19th century saint Sri Sai Baba. The Sri Saibaba Sansthan Trust also located in Shirdi is one of the richest temple organisations.

Shirdi is located approximately 296 km from Mumbai, capital of Maharashtra.The closest and most highly connected city from Shirdi is Ahmednagar and Nashik city.

There are many way to reach shirdi from different places, Shirdi can be reached  from any of the cities in Maharashtra like Ahmednagar, Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nashik, Akluj, Dhule, Nagpur,Aurangabad etc. Also there are transportation like bus, flight,car,train. Kolad is a small village, in Raigad district, in Maharashtra. It is 117 km from Mumbai , lies on the banks of River Kundalika.Which is regarded as an excellent getaway from Mumbai and Pune. 
This place will suits for the people who is looking (for stress relief from office,  college as well as mummies from kitchen)  for travel themes, such as rafting, lakes, rivers, dams, falls, forts, and caves, Kolad is the place to visit.

Here i will tell few places that i have visited through pawar travels, (Pawar travels is the travel agency who have given us good service for our trip,thank you for them).

Places:

1) Tamhini ghat :

    These are popularly known as the Valse and are one of the popular attractions of Kolad. Its modest peaks and lush greenery make it a quick addition to the list of favorites of all its visitors. The Kansai Waterfalls and hot springs at Uddhar are situated near this falls.



2) Kuda caves:

These caves are a part of the Janjira Hills. A group of 13 Buddhist caves, many sculptures, paintings and inscriptions can be found here. Stupas of the Lord can also be seen.

3) Gaimukh

Literally translated as 'the mouth of the cow', this is a small village located in Thane West and is also a famous pilgrim centre. It houses a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which comes in the limelight every Mahashivratri - the festival of Shiva.
And many more places are there to expore your vaccation.

We can travel to kolad in 2 ways by car 

1) Paud Road
   Via paud road we can travel from pune to kothrud, kothrud to paud road, paud road to Pirangut,Pirangut toPaud, Paud toMulshi Dam, Mulshi Dam to Tamhini Ghat,Tamhini Ghat  to Kolad. Its is of almost 120 km and it will take 3hrs

2) Mumbai - Pune Express Highway and Khopoli - Pali Road.
Move towards National Highway 4 from Ganeshkhind Road, Aundh Road and Baner Road and merge onto National Highway 4 - Take the Mumbai Pune Expressway to MH SH 104. Mumbai  to  Pune Expressway near Khopali , Khopoli to Pali Road to NH66 , NH66 (Mumbai - Goa Road)- Kolad. it will take 150 km and 3hrs same as paud road.

Lingana fort which is 3 kms in the western sahyadri range with a height of
2969 . Birwadi- Raigad trek pre Shivaji Era village Birwadi is 24 kms from
Raigad a trek along river Kal. Mahad trek is of 21 km along river Gandhari via pachad to Raigad.
